2 Minute Tip ~ #11 Shifting Gears

November 12, 2014 by Rose Leave a Comment

Are you feeling frustrated with your business? Are you thinking that you might need to change gears…again? Wondering if you’re ever going to get it right?

Welcome to Mindfully Organized 2- Minute tips.   I am Rose Hawley-Perry, The De-Clutter YOur Mind So Your Soul Can Shine Coach and today we are going to talk about the feelings that can come up when we think about changing gears in our businesses again.

If you are frustrated, then you’re not alone. It’s said that being an entrepreneur is one of the most thorough ways of self-exploration. When we start to dive deeply into ourselves, we also come to new and sometimes startling realizations about our business. As a result, we end up shifting gears. And sometimes it’s a dramatic shift.

Making changes like this in our business can be startling. We may feel like we are constantly struggling, having a hard time “getting it right”. We may mourn the loss of the work and time we’ve spent in putting things together. And we think that maybe this will be the “last time”.

Except, there’s a good chance that it won’t be. As we grow our business grows. As we work through the mental clutter to find clarity and focus, this also translates to our business. This means changes.

Embrace the idea of “shifting gears”. You’re not losing anything; you’re gaining renewed focus and energy in your business. You’re gaining clients. You’re most likely growing your platform and expanding your reach. This is great news!

So how do become comfortable with the idea of changing your focus? First, you need to understand that this has nothing to do with failure. Think of it more like a recipe. You’re cooking up things in your business and you make a decision to try a different spice. Maybe you make a dish that normally uses beef and you decide to substitute chicken. Changing a recipe isn’t a failure. It’s a change, one that sometimes turns into a new favorite. Other times, you decide it doesn’t quite work out and you go in a new direction. It’s never a failure.

Look at the benefits the change brings you. And look at the reasons why you’re making the change. If it feels good—feels right—to make the change, then that’s a good thing. Most likely it also will bring benefits to you personally as well as your business.

Changing gears is something that all great business leaders do and embrace. Many business books talk about being nimble—that’s what embracing change is all about.

So the next time you feel a need to change your focus, don’t fear and don’t worry. It’s all part of the process…and that means progress for you and for your business. I have even more to say on this topic in my new series of video “Stop Don’t Buy Another Business How-To Program Until you watch this….You can register to watch at http://www.mindfullyorganzied.com/wait

What do you think?  How do you embrace change in your life or your business?

2 Minute Tip #10 ~ Focus Through the Fear

October 28, 2014 by Rose 2 Comments

What do you do when you get anxious about your business?

Welcome to Mindfully Organized Two Minutes Tips. I’m Rose Hawley-Perry, the De-Clutter Your Mind So Your Soul Can Shine Coach, and I’m here to talk to you today about what to do when your fear starts overwhelming you.

If you’re like a lot of people, you’ll do anything except work on what’s making you anxious. It may be time to try another tactic. The next time that anxiety rears its ugly head, try working through it.

What do I mean by that? Do something for your business. Anything! Your mind can’t focus on two things at one time, so if you change your focus from your anxiety to your business you’re doing something more productive.

This actually has a few benefits: The first being that you’re not in anxiety, you’re moving forward, you are creating positive momentum. Even if the things you are working on aren’t the most perfect things to work on your moving forward.

One of the other benefits I want to talk about is the fact that just starting to work gives us direction and a lot of times our anxiety comes up because we don’t have direction. When we focus on one thing and we start getting it done, it allows us to open up and be ready for the possibilities that the universe has to throw at us, and when we’re closed off, and we’re tight, and we’re anxious, we’re not open to these possibilities.

You might even find yourself inspired to change course and that’s okay. In fact, we’ll talk about that a little bit more next week.

This isn’t meant to turn you into a workaholic. This is just meant to focus you. So make sure that you’re doing the things you need to do to take care of yourself, that you’re spending time with your friends and your family. But, if you have time to work on your business and you’re finding yourself stuck in anxiety, I want you to choose to work on something.

What do you do to get out of fear and anxiety?  Share with us and keep the conversation going!

2 Minute Tip #6 ~ Rant…Get the Help You NEED!

August 28, 2014 by Rose 2 Comments

Are you trying to get everything done all by yourself?  Do you feel overwhelmed with the amount of information to process, tasks to complete, decisions to be made?

Welcome to Mindfully Organized 2 Minute Tips I am Rose Hawley-Perry, The De-clutter Your Mind So Your Soul Can Shine Coach and in today’s episode I am going to rant for a little bit.

I don’t know exactly why, but many, many women entrepreneurs including myself prior to this want to figure it all  for our ourselves.  Spending money on getting help with something “I can figure out myself”, getting help with the small routine tasks, asking someone who is succeeding at doing what you want to do for specific advice.  All these things seem ridiculous and a waste of time and money and energy.

But let me tell you, I realized that I was flat out wrong.  When I looked back into my 15 year career in the business world, I did not move from Program Assistant to Director of Operations all by myself.  Admittedly, I did a lot of research on my own, I figured out the right people to ask and the right questions to ask those people. But I always said, oh, I don’t know much I just know that right people to ask.  But moving into the entrepreneurial life I lost that knowledge, it felt like a failure to ask, or a imposition on the other person or ….I know you get it.

The truth of the matter is that we all can use help.  There is NO successful person that has done it alone.

I am an absolutely wonderful coach when it comes to decluttering, mind, body, space.  I can help you let go of the stuff that is weighing you down.  But why should I spend all my time trying to figure out the business side of getting my message out there to you.  It is like trying to reinvent the wheel and we all know how silly that is.

So what do you do?  Ask for help, if you are struggling with housework ask a friend to come over.  If you are struggling in business, hire a business coach.  If you need some free time see if someone can come babysit your kids for the evening. If you want to declutter your mind so your soul can shine hire me. 

The other piece of this puzzle for business is mentors and I will discuss that in next week’s tip.

I know this is hard, especially at first!  But the very best thing I ever did for Mindfully Organized is hire my business coach!  She is a blessing for me, my business and my relationship.  You do not have to do this alone.

2 Minute Tips ~ #5 Dealing with Difficult People

August 19, 2014 by Rose 6 Comments

Have you ever said something that you really, really regret?

Welcome to Mindfully Organized 2 Minute tips I am Rose Hawley-Perry, The Declutter Your Mind So Your Soul Can Shine Coach and in today’s episode I am going give you a few pointers on making more conscious choices in our responses to others.

Before all else you must take responsibility for your own actions.  Unless someone has physically made you do something, they don’t actually make you do anything.  The part that is theirs is their behavior.  That gets processed by your brain, filtered through your stories, your experience, your expectations and then turns it into YOUR reaction.

Have you ever had a person in your life that other friends got along with just fine, but they just pushed all the wrong buttons for you?  That is because their behavior gets filtered through your brain.

So, how do you start becoming more conscious and less reactive? Anywhere you can.  It takes practice and it seems like a lot of work.  But in reality, it is less work, because you get to decide when you want to do something.  You get to decide when to ignore something.  You and only you get to decide how you are going to spend your energy. I am not saying that getting angry or having a good cry isn’t the right reaction.  I am just saying you get to decide.

Most important, give yourself time to think before you speak. Do NOT respond too quickly.  We are taught that we need to answer quickly and decisively and that is false.  Take a breath.  If the situation allows step away, if it doesn’t say, Let me think about this for a minute.

Then decide what the most important outcome is for you in the situation.  If you are talking to a co-worker and they insulted you, but you need them to get something done yesterday, following up on the insulting part of the conversation right this minute may not be the best response.

What do you think? I love to hear your opinions so let a comment below and let’s talk. 🙂

Do You Want to Please Everyone?

April 30, 2013 by Rose 5 Comments

Being Mindful:

“I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.”

~Bill Cosby

MO_PleasingEveryone

One of my biggest lessons learned in life is that not everyone will like you, no matter what you do! It is more important to be the best person you can be and not to worry too much about the people who still don’t like you or what you do.

That is not to say that you should not contemplate whether or not there is something you could do better. We can all get better. However, sometimes there is nothing you should change. Some people just don’t click with each other.

Letting go of perfectionism in relationships is powerful.  Let’s live mindfully!

What do you think?  How or when did you learn that you shouldn’t try to please everyone?
